Acworth Young Aldermen Presentation
Members of the Acworth Young Aldermen consisting of students from North Cobb and Allatoona High School(s), with the leadership of school staff member Jennifer Biddy and Acworth Parks and Recreation Coordinator Michelle Berryman, gave a brief synopsis of their accomplishments from the 2014-2015 school year that included, but not limited to; participation with community service events for the annual Easter Egg Hunt, Covering the Bases, Art Fest, Horizon League and scarecrow contest. The Young Aldermen also planted a tree at North Cobb High School in memory of Dr. Amy Foster, a teacher who loss her battle with breast cancer. Ms. Biddy advised that Dr. Foster did a lot for her community and others and thanked the City and Collins Funeral Home for their assistance for planting of the tree. The Acworth Young Aldermen meet at least once a month at City Hall to gather topics of interest from city staff and departments. The group’s main goal is to create one project each year to pursue as a collective body and present to Council. Members of the group were presented a commemorative gift for their participation.
